It was really great to watch the results come in over the past weekend from the Legions in Ottawa (and Hershey) and we wish to congratulate all ASEA/local athletes for their success and participation. So many personal bests speaks very well to everyone`s preparation – coaching staff/chaperon certainly withstanding. We highlight the following performances as recorded in Gabriel LeBlanc`s ANB report. Please let us remember that the following athletes are coming in top ten in the whole country and this at a time when the very best (beyond what used to be only the top two of each province) all competing.
Shawna McKay of Moncton broke the New Brunswick record in the 300m with a clocking of 41.52, just missing the podium by finishing in 4th place ie 4th in Canada! Great work getting there Shawna.Victoria LeBlanc and Shawna also helped propel the NB team to a 4th place in the Medley relay.
On the U18 side, Lee Wesselius of River Glade ran a great 2000m Steeplechase finishing in 5th position with a time of 6:12.59 and a 6th place in the 3000m. Who in the world does both a Steeplechase along with a 3000 meter – NB athletes do! Bravo Lee (and in the background Clark).
Sarah Taplin of Moncton finished 5th in the triple jump (11m25) and had a 7th place finish in the long jump (5m07). Propulsion ++. Congratulations Sarah!
Jake Bradley of Riverview broke the NB record in the 200m hurdle with a time of 28.10 that allowed him to finish 7th in the event. Another Riverview upstart ie Stephanie Reid, Micheal LeBlanc, Jake… Keep it up Jake and who knows!
Let`s not forget a few other ASEAers were also Hersheying at the Hershey`s in Hershey Pennsylvania! Congrats to Kristine Frenette and our ASEA always Alexondria Keily for their 3rd place in the 4x100m relay.
