ASEA'S own Mike LeBlanc named to Canadian Team for World Indoor Championships

Congratulations to Mike LeBlanc who, yesterday, was named to the Canadian National team for the World Indoor Championships. Mike flies to Istanbul Turkey this Sunday March 4th. The meet is March 9,10 & 11. This is the first ASEA member to be named to a national world's senior team.

He will be running the preliminary heats on March 9 at 17:35. This will be 11:35am our time. The semi's will be on March 10 at 17:30 ( 11:30am our time). The finals are scheduled for March 10 at 20:00 ( 2:00pm our time) .

Coming into this indoor season Mike's PB in the 60 meter was 6.67 . On January 27 he sprinted to a quick opener of 6.64 at the Penn State Invite. On February 11 he lowered that to 6.63 at the Robert Kane Invite at Cornell University. On February 18, at the Ontario Senior Championships in Toronto, Mike ran 6.68 / 6.61 /6.61. This qualified him to have his ticket punched for Worlds.

All younger club athletes please take note that Mike started competition in the School District 2 track meets as well as the Provincial Legion Program. All of this was within ASEA.He practiced at the CEPS as well as the local outdoor tracks in the area the same as you are doing. You are in a similar program right now. In his senior year of high school alot of time was spent looking for the best university program before he settled on the University of Syracuse. Maybe you can follow a similar path ?

I am sure we all wish Mike the best and many of us will be closely waiting on March 9.
