Aug 1, 2013 - Laura Dickinson off to Hershey North America

Starting today Our very own Laura Dickinson will be at the Hershey North American Championships. She is our only athlete this year to compete in an internationl competition!

From the 3rd to the 4th the Hershey corporation is hosting their Noth American Championships. With few athletes qualifying per zone it is an imensely difficult meet to qualify for. With three different qualification meets rom which results are compared to several states in order for a single athlete to be chosen. This large and difficult qualification process only speaks to the calibur of athlete it takes to make it there.

This championship is held every year in Hershey pennsylvanya in an effort to promote sport and healthy actuvuty to youths. Not only do they get to compete internationally the athletes also get to meet so track greats and a tour of the Hershey factory in Hershey.

As you may or may not have noticed Laura has surged on the scene in recent moths. From setting a middle school provincial meet record in the 1200m straight through to this past weekend when she shattered her own provincial record in the 1500m steeplechase. Hard to believe it is only her firt year in the sport!

Laura will be competing in the 1600m race at the Chapionships. We wish her the best of luck and regardless of the outcome that she does the best she can enjoys her time in Pennsylvanya. After returning from Pensylavanya Laura will be shipping off with the Legion team team to Langley BC.
