Moncton NB -  ASEA's Masters Coach Paul Thibodeau is pleased to report the lastest happenings within the masters ranks within ASEA on both the track and roads.

Masters coach and athlete Paul Thibodeau has been actively recruiting masters athletes and has been working very closely with them in order to continue building a longterm and sustainable program to ensure that the club is well represented in that category.

Thibodeau is pleased to report the following happenings from that category.   During the summer of  2013,  ASEA's newest  masters athlete, Heather Griffiths competing in the 35-39 age category established 4 new New Brunswick masters records in the 200M, 400M , 800M and 1500M races.

In addition to that,  Thibodeau ( 50-59) and Griffiths (30-39) both competed in the Cross Border Challenge points series held in Amherst Nova Scotia and both won their respective age categories as well as Male and Female Overall points winners!!  They were both presented with their awards and trophies at a ceremony in Amherst NS on January 28th, 2014.  Congratulations to both for representing ASEA on the roads.

Griffiths was also the top female masters runners at the Atlantic XC Championships held on October 26, 2013 at U de M in Moncton.  Thibodeau for his part finished 2nd overall masters men to Glen Trites of Saint John.

In December of 2013,  Thibodeau outkicked the same Glen Trites in the mens 3000M at CEPs in Moncton to set a new mens 50-54 record with a time of 10:55.18.

Once again on January 12, 2014,  Thibodeau travelled to Waterville Maine to set a new New Brunswick mens 50-54 indoor 5000M record with a time of 19:22.24.

On January 18th, 2014.  Griffiths along with ASEA's 3 newest members Jill Ivany (44).  Lola White (35) and Stephanie Aucoin (40),  set 2 indoor Relay records in the  4 x 200M and 4 x 400M distances.

It has been rumoured that legendary "Senior" Masters athlete , Edna Thibodeau (89 yrs old),  may return to active competition this summer to represent ASEA!!!!

Thibodeau will be seeking to recruit and extend ASEA's presence on the road race circuit.  2014 promises to be a very busy and productive year on both the track and the roads.
